Downtown Framingham’s Getting Greener

We’re excited to announce that atac’s latest project— a Community Art Garden—will be a year-round public art exhibit, traditional garden, and gathering space providing access to open environmental revitalization for downtown Framingham residents and visitors. The 600 sq. ft. urban greenspace will occupy the front and side of our historic Firehouse and—in addition to original art—will feature accessible seating, a Little Free Library, garden beds for the collaborative Urban Garden Initiative, and free WIFI for public enjoyment and enrichment.

Calling All MetroWest Artists!

A garden is cultivated with time, intention, and attention. It’s a process through which we foster growth and enjoy each other's company. It’s a commitment to the belief that having a place to be matters. With that in mind, we’re inviting artists to start sharing their ideas.

This project is a prompt, inviting us all to think critically about the relationships between ourselves and the environment, about inviting versus hostile architecture, about how we share land, and what we can learn from plants, pollinators, and the cycle of seasons. It’s a physical space that keeps present in our minds ideas of placemaking and placekeeping, of ecology, and intersectionality.

Artists are invited to fill out our simple Artist Interest Form over on the Garden page. Share a bit about yourself and your ideas; we’ll keep you in the loop as opportunities are announced.
